Siddhant Mehta in Maharashtra Team that Won Junior National Rugby Championship

Siddhant Sumit Mehta was a member of the Maharashtra State U-18 Boys team that won the Societé Generalé Junior National Rugby Sevens Championships 2018 held in Madurai on July 22, 2018, defeating Bihar 24-0 in the final. The tournament is conducted by the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU).

Siddhant is the son of Arpita and Sumeet Mehta and grandson of Late Nainaben and Kumarbhai K. Mehta.


This is the second consecutive year that Siddhant is representing the state team, which emerged as runner-up last year. 


Earlier, in 2016, Siddhant was also a member of the state team that won the rugby tournament held as part of the National School Games 2016 organised by the SGFI in Bhubhaneshwar. He has been playing rugby for the past three years.


Siddhant is also an avid football player and has in previous years also represented his former school Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai team which won the all-India qualifying tournament and represented India at the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Finals round held in Munich.
