Sreekant Surajmal Mehta, veteran award-winning horticulturist and well-known philanthropist, passed away in Salem on October 22, 2021. He was the son of Late Jasudaben and Late Surajmal Bhaichand Mehta and husband of Late Anitaben, and managed the family plantations in Tamil Nadu consisting of Coffee, Pepper, Orange, Pomello, Hill Bananas, Jack, Litchi, Avacado and other fruits since 1963.
Palanpur Samaj Kendra Charitable Trust, Mumbai has invited applications from needy and deserving students for the Educational Financial Assistance Scheme 2021-22. The assistance will be to selected students of Std IX and above from the Palanpuri Jain community who reside in Mumbai city and suburbs, the PSK said.
One of the senior-most veterans of the Indian gems and jewellery industry, Kirtilal K Doshi was felicitated on the occasion of the commencement of his centenary year by two trade bodies -- the Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association (MDMA) and the Gemmological Institute of India (GII). Kirtibhai has been actively involved with both these institutions over many decades of his life.
A Free Health Checkup Camp was organised by Palanpur Samaj Kendra Charitable Trust and sponsored by PDP Club on the 16th & 17th of October 2021 at Shanti Building, Kemps Corner. Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MLA and Shri Jayantibhai Jhaveri, Treasurer PSK, inaugurated the camp. Jyotsanaben Mehta, Corporator, doctors and dignitaries from the community were also present on the occasion.
Anoop V. Mehta and Mehul N. Shah have been re-appointed as President and Vice- President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse for 2021-22 at the firt meeting of the new Managing Committee which was elected at the organisation’s AGM held recently. Both are senior and well known Palanpuri diamantaires. Mehta has held the position since 2002, while Shah has been Vice-President for nearly a decade.
