Leading diamantaire Vipul Prabodh Shah of Asian Star Co, one of India’s top diamond manufacturer-exporters, has been elected as Chairman of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) for a two-year term from September 2022 to September 2024. GJEPC is the apex body of India’s gem and jewellery export trade officially recognised by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and has over 7,500 members all over the country.
Vishnu Vaghela, a 24-year old from Palanpur who is completely visually impaired, has been a member of the Indian Blind Football team representing the country at various international tournaments. He completed Std 12 from Mamata Mandir, one of the institutions run by Vidyamandir Trust in Palanpur, in 2016. Earlier this month, he was part of the Indian team that took part in the 2022 IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix in Mexico. The Indian team finished a creditable 5th among 18 participating countries.
Dr Nihar Pradip Mehta, a leading consultant cardiologist in Mumbai has successfully performed complex Heart Valve replacements without stitches in the past few months, one of the first cardiologists in India to do this without assistance of a foreign proctor. He accomplished this soon after completing a Fellowship in Structural Heart Disease and TAVI at the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Institute (GOKVI) in Budapest, Hungary from January to June 2022.

Palanpur Samaj Kendra Charitable Trust, Mumbai has invited applications from needy and deserving students for the Educational Financial Assistance Scheme 2022-23. Keshar Deval Shah of VMT, with 98.67%, was the state topper in the Gujarat SSC Board exam (Std X) of March 2022. She stood first among the nearly 8 lakh students who appeared in March this year, scoring 592 out of a possible 600, and achieving the maximum 100 marks in Science, Mathematics and Sanskrit. Keshar, who is originally from Deesa, has been a student of VMT from the time she entered Balmandir many years ago. She told news reporters that she will continue to pursue Science for her HSC with the ultimate aim of entering IIT for her Engineering studies.
PSK Women’s Forum kickstarted their new year after a two year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, with an entertaining social event which included a mix of exciting fun games.
