In the recent past, before the emergence of India in the Global Economy, Stock Exchange was a market which was considered more like a gambling den than a place of Investment. But nowadays there are a whole lot of opportunities not only in terms of Investment for the general investor, but also as a whole new field to be exploited in terms of Career paths for the trained professionals. With this I aim to enlighten my colleagues about the ample career opportunities in the stock market. One needs to have a deep understanding and genuine knowledge of the market. Many reputed universities like Narsee Monji Institute of Management, S.P. Institute of Management, Welingkars as well as the CFA Institute of USA provide courses which are beneficial for those who are seriously considering stock market as a career.

The profiles which one can look forward to in this field are that of an investment banker, an equity analyst, a Financial Planner or a Portfolio Manager. Once can also join an upcoming new trend of delta hedgers, as I have chosen, in which strategies are formed in the futures and options markets as well as the equity market so as to book  profits irrespective of the movement made by the stock market. If one wishes to be self employed, he can also become a stock broker.

For all the above profiles, one can look for Placement opportunities with Edelweiss, Motilal Oswal, Enam, Angel Broking, LIC India, CRISIL, Morgan Stanley and other such companies.

With a little bit of discipline and using knowledge – both fundamental and technical, we can aim for assured optimum return from the stock market. Thus research and knowledge are the tools which will help us to convert this gamble into a Science.
