Palanpur is the headquarters of Banaskantha distrcit of Gujarat state.

Location

It is located at 24.17° N 72.43° E. It has an average elevation of 209 metres (685 feet).

It is well connected to other major cities in the state by both road and rail.

The town is 70 kms. from Mehsana on the Ahmedabad- Abu Road highway, and is a railway junction on the Ahmedabad-Delhi line. It is thus well linked with Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Delhi.

 

Railway Junction

By rail it is 614 kms from Mumbai, 138 kms from Ahmedabad and 800 kms from Delhi.

Bus Station

Palanpur is a central station for the Gujarat State Transport Corporation. State transport buses and private luxury coaches connect with various centers of Gujarat. The railway station and the bus station are at a distance of less than one km from the centre of the town.

To the north, are the Kumbharia Chandravati and Mt. Abu. To the west is Deesa, once an army cantonment and in the distance is the Lesser Rann of Kutch. To the south-west is Anahilwada-Patan with Siddhpur 32 km to the South.To the east of the town is Danta

Airport

The nearest airport is at Ahmedabad, about 155 km away. Other airports within a 300 km radius from the town include Vadodara (215 km ), Rajkot (250 km), Bhuj (255 km), Bhavnagar (260 km).

Local Transport

Local Transport : Buses, taxis and autorickshaws are available for travel within the city.
