Satish Nanalal Mehta is a true admirer of Gujarati language and literature, though he was born and brought up in Madras, and now lives in Mumbai. An amateur poet, he has been writing since a young age, and has a good Gujarati vocabulary and control of its usage.

This poem is written for all the brides to be who will be married soon. It explains & depicts with imagination of a poetic heart, various moods & feelings the bride to be should be feeling. And showers the best of the wishes & blessings for her & her new family. It was written in one sitting in about one half hour,once the idea & imagination & the words started to flow. It is universal to all the brides to be alike.

સોળે સજી શણગાર, રૂપ રૂપ નો અંબાર,
સિંચેલા સંસ્કારો નો લઇ નિખાર,
સર્વ  સ્નેહી જનો ની લઇ શીખ,
રૂમઝુમ  કરતી, શોભા નું રૂખ બની,
થનગનાટ, તરવરાટને માંડ માંડ સંવારીને,
ખિલખીલાટ  સ્મિત વેરતી,
વિદાઈ નો થોડો વિષાદ  અંતરમાં સમાવી,
નાદાન, આદર્શ બાળપણ ને પિયરમાં સમેટીને,
લઇ  ને નવી ઉમંગ, નવા પથપર,
સંસાર ને, સજાવવા, મુકવા પ્રભુતામાં પહેલું કદમ,
નવ  પલ્લવિત જીવનમાં, દઈએ એવા આશીર્વાદ
કે  તારું  લગ્ન જીવન રૂપી દીપ,
ખુબ પ્રદીપ્ત થઇ કરે  એવો ઉજાશ,
આકાશના સાતેય રંગ ઉભરાય, પથરાય,
તારા  નવા કંડારેલા પથ પર, જેથી આસાનીથી મળે તને,
સુખી  અને હર્યોભર્યો સંસાર અને  લગ્ન જીવન.
