An Introduction to ‘Shout’

By Yash Paras Bhansali

Yash is the son of Kanan and Paras Navinchandra Bhansali. The article is based on a speech he  presented at the 'Rising Stars' function organised by PSK in Mumbai.

A few months back, my friends and I came up with an idea to print a student magazine that we call ‘Shout’. The editorial team of this magazine comprises of students from different schools.

‘Shout’ is a vehicle to voice our opinion and get our message across.

With a few phone calls and e-mails, we reached Rajinder Singh of Zero and Company and he was willing to print our monthly magazine. For funding, we contributed seed capital from our own savings and later also got sponsors such as Vidhani Cotton Socks and Kanan Knitwear.

The inaugural issues were complimentary.

Now we have a thousand copies that we distribute across the city in popular bookstores and eateries. You can pick up ‘Shout’ from Shemaroo, Oxford Bookstore, Café Coffee Day, McDonalds etc.

For the first issue in December we had the privilege of interviewing the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sivanandan. Thereafter came the January issue and the third issue was out in February.

The magazine covers a variety of subjects ranging from the swine flu, media sensationalisation to education, Bollywood films, the Copenhagen Summit and many more.

We have got positive comments and feedback from numerous establishments and people that have read it. Now we aim to continue our progress, and even increase it so that ‘Shout’ can soon be on your desk too.
