Banaskatha District Kelavani Mandal (BKDKM) Holds Meeting in Mumbai

The Banaskatha District KelavaniMandal (BKDKM) a Palanpur-based trust focusing on higher education organised a meeting on October 23, 2016.

 
The meeting titled “Unveiling a Vision: Planting the Seeds of Education for a Flourishing Future” sought to brief those attending about the development of the organisation thus far and its plans for the immediate future. 
 
Chairman of the BKDKM Trust, Dr. Vikram Mehta touched upon the lack of educational facilities in Banaskatha district in the days gone by and described how students appearing for their school Board examinations had to go to distant cities to appear in the 1950s. The situation has undergone a vast change since those days, Mehta said, and the BKDKM had stepped in to do its bit for the cause of higher education over the past five decades and more.
 
Vipul Modi, Jt. Managing Trustee gave a detailed presentation on the BKDKM, outlining the strengths and achievements of the institution.
 
Starting the first college with 100 students in rented premises in 1964, he said that the organisation today, has seven colleges under its umbrella and is based in its own independent campus housed on a 12-acre plot. The BKDKM also caters to the all-round education of girls and boys of the area and has every facility for facilitating   studies as well as extra-curricular activities.  
 
The power point presentation was followed by a talk by Shirishkumar Modi, BKDKM’s Managing Trustee who looked back and traced the historical roots of the organisation and dwelt on the contribution that the BKDKM and its institutions had made towards the development and welfare of Banaskatha district and its peoples.    
 
Ashish Mehta, a Permanent Invitee to the Board of Trustees, focused on the need ofa job-oriented education to be imparted in colleges. He outlined the many areas that BKDKM could venture into.
 
Milan Parikh, Russell Mehta and Mehul Choksi, all Trustees, and members of the original families which had contributed to the building up of the BKDKM campus also urged all present to join the good work being done. 
 
A short documentary film was aired at the end of the meeting which gave a live glimpse of the colleges, the campus and its facilities. The film ends with a message from Arun Mehta, Chairman Emeritus of the BKDKM Trust exhorting everyone to contribute to the work of lighting the lamp of education and growing the institution further so that it can encompass more faculties and serve more students. 
 
The meeting came to an end with Dr.Vikrambhai Mehta reiterating Arunbhai’s message and outlining some concrete plans for the future.
