Palanpuri Diamantaires Prominent at GJEPC’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations

Past Chairmen of GJEPC were felicitated

A number of Palanpuri diamantaires were in the limelight at two different events held in mid-March to commemorate the 50th anniversary celebrations of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council. While many played key roles at the Mines to Market International Diamond Conference held on the occasion, a number of the former GJEPC chairmen who were felicitated at the Charity Dinner were also from the community.

One of the main organisers of the conference was Sanjay K. Shah who is currently the Convener of the Diamond Panel Committee of the GJEPC. In addition, Russell A. Mehta, presently the Vice-Chairman of GJEPC presented an ‘Overiew of the Indian Diamond Industry” at the Inaugural session. Anoop V. Mehta was also one of the dignitaries seated on the dais during the opening session.

Later on the first day, Rajiv P. Mehta took part in the Panel Discussion on the situation in the mining segment of the diamond pipeline. On Day Two, Rajiv also was the moderator of a session on marketing diamonds to consumers leading the discussion on an issue that had assumed great importance in recent times. Another session on the role of labs and the importance of diamond certification was moderated by Sanjay A Kothari.

Earlier, at the grand Charity Dinner held on the evening of the first day, the highlight of which was the address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister which was streamed live from Delhi, GJEPC also felicitated and honoured past Chairmen of the Council. The Palanpuri diamantaires among the honorees included Manhar Bhansali, Kaushik Mehta, Sanjay Kothari, Bakul Mehta and Vipul Shah.
