Khushboo Shah in Limca Book of Records for ‘Largest Folded Book Scuplture’

Khushboo Shah, artist and interior designer, has set a National Record for creating the ‘Largest Folded Book Sculpture’, a rendering of a tiger and will be a part of the Limca Book of Records 2017. Khushboo is the daughter of Reshma and Ashish Vasantbhai Shah.

The sculpture was created over a year ago after Khushboo worked for 12 hours in two six hour sessions each on January 22 and 23, 2016, so that the achievement would be recorded as a special gift on her birthday, January 24, 2016. She created a tiger which is 16 inches tall from a book that was 21 inches in height. The Editor of the Limca Book of Records said in a certificate that “she folded the pages in the book in such a way that the image of the tiger was evident after the folding.”

Sharing the story of her achievement, Khushboo said, “I had created an art installation at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in 2015 on the theme 'Save the Tigers'. When I sent those pictures to Limca Book of Records, they said that I should set a record by making a sculpture of the same tiger, and stipulated the conditions under which I should do it.”

Accordingly, while Khushboo was making the sculpture at her residence in Borivali, there were three witnesses present for first four hours each day and another three for the next two hours. The entire creation was recorded on video and with photographs as specified under the Limca Book of Records rules, as the proof they would require. At the launch there were two doctors invited for verification.
Khushboo adds, “This record was confirmed and accepted on 30th November 2016, since Limca Book of Records starts verification for the forthcoming year’s records only after 30th June of the current year. I recently received a certificate confirming this, too.”

Khushboo is a professionally qualified Interior Designer from Rachna Sansad, who has also completed her M.Com in management and MBA in Project Management. She currently works as a freelance interior designer and content writer for a creative agency. She is a 'self-taught' artist & had presented art ainstallations at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Mood Indigo and Dumas Art Festival. Besides the Folded Book Sculptures, she also does graffiti, paper quilling, zentangle, canvas painting, 3D sketching etc...
