Navinchandra D. Mehta Elected First Chairman of JIO (Jain International Organization)

Navinchandra D. Mehta (D Navinchandra Exports Pvt Ltd) was elected as the first Chairman of JIO (Jain International Organisation) at its Mega Business Conference held in Mumbai on July 2, 2017. The veteran diamantaire and well-known philanthropist has been associated with the organization ever since it was founded in 2014 and has been on its Board of Directors and actively associated with the Walkeshwar chapter. Navinbhai is also the Chairman of Palanpur Samaj Kendra (PSK).

The Conference took place in the presence of chief ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Devendra Fadnavis and Vijay Rupani, the minister of state for finance and corporate affairs in the central government Arjun Meghwal, BJP Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar and other dignitaries as well as over 1,000 delegates.

He was also felicitated on his appointment by the Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association and Palanpur Samaj Kendra at a special meeting organized by them in the BDB on July 18. MDMA President Mahendrabhai Gandhi, PSK President Bharatbhai Shah, DEAL President Arvind Parikh and other industry leaders spoke on the occasion.

JIO was conceptualized and founded by Param Pujya Naypadmsagarji Maharajsaheb with the objective of uniting all members of the Jain community, regardless of sects and to spread awareness of the Jain Lifestyle, Culture and Heritage. Its activities include projects in the fields of Education, Health, Economic Prosperity, Politics and good governance, Harmonious Justice. Some of the initiatives which are planned include establishment of an International settlement forum-ISF to facilitate amicable and speedy resolution of disputes, JIO Card, social networking, marriage bureau, job portal, spiritual-social-economical growth of individual, family, community, nation & world.

During his career spanning over 50 years in the diamond industry, Navinbhai has played key roles including as head, in a number of business, social, charitable and religious organizations. These include diamond industry bodies such as GJEPC, MDMA and DEAL; social organizations like JITO, PSK, Giants International, Lions Club and others; and religious and charitable trusts including Nageshwar Tirth, Kumar Tirth, Mahavir Heart Foundation and many others.

Navinbhai has received many awards and felicitations for his achievements in different fields such as The Lifetime Achievement Award from GJEPC at IGJA 2014, Pioneer of the Industry award by IDCA, New York in 2009, and a special felicitation at the Global Convention of Giants held at Mumbai in 2011.
