Nishit M. Parikh is New President of AWDC, Samir S. Mehta is Vice President-Trade

Nishit (Bali) Mahendra Parikh of Diarough has been appointed as the new President of Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), apex body of the diamond trade in Antwerp, while Samir Sureshkumar Mehta of Sneh Diamond has been appointed as Vice President representing the trade.

Parikh, who has earlier served as President of AWDC from 2010-12, takes over from outgoing President Stéphane Fischler who was recently elected as President of the World Diamond Council.

Welcoming Nishit Parikh as the new President, AWDC CEO Ari Epstein said, “Continuity, stability and a formidable personality are all essential elements in the diamond trade, and Bali (Parikh) embodies all these qualities. We are very pleased to welcome him back as President of the AWDC, and have every confidence he will be a strong leader in the important years ahead, backed by the support of the incoming Vice Presidents and Board veterans Freddy Inzlicht and Samir Mehta.”

Mehta came to Antwerp nearly 30 years ago after learning the fundamentals of the diamond trade in Mumbai and Surat. He initially worked with other companies before eventually starting his own company, Sneh Diamonds.

Two other senior Palanpuri diamantaires – Rajiv Shashikant Kothari of Diamstones and Chetan Shah of Simplex Diam – are also members of the Board of Directors of AWDC, representing the Trade.
