Dr Ashok R Mehta, well-known cancer surgeon with a specialisation in head and neck surgery and Founder and Medical Director of the Brahmakumaris Global Hospitals, received the “Icon Of Surgery 2018” Award from the SAARC Surgical Care Society in December.
 

The award was presented by His Excellency Governor of Tamilnadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit and Honourable Thiru Palanasami, Chief Minister at the ASICON, Annual Conference of Association of Surgeons of India held in 2018 at Chennai.

Dr Mehta has had a long and illustrious career having worked at Tata Memorial, Nanavati and Jaslok Hospital among others, before moving to the Brahmakumaris Global Hospital. He is among the pioneers of specialised oncology and particularly in Head & Neck surgery.

Actively associated with many of the medical associations in the country, Dr Mehta has held prestigious posts in the Indian Society of Oncology, Indian Society of Head& Neck Oncology, Association of Surgeons in India. 

He was elected as a fellow qua surgeon of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1995 and received the Dr B.C. Roy National Award at the hands of the then Hon’ble President of India Shri K. R. Narayanan in 1996.
