Prominent Jain monk Muni Shri Hitruchi Vijayji Maharaj, the last disciple of Great Jain Acharya Shri Ramchandra Surishwarji Maharaj, attained Samadhi in Ahmedabad on the morning of March 25, 2019. He was one of the most conservative of Jain monks and known for his strict adherence to the old traditions of Jainism as a follower of the original way of living.
Muni Shri Hitruchi Vijayji took Diksha in 1991 in the presence of a huge gathering at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was one of the most popular and highly recognised events of the Jain community. Nearly 2,00,000 (two lakh) people participated in a banquet lunch with a single sit down arrangement, which was a world record for any banquet lunch/dinner in terms of the numbers involved.
At the time of his Diksha, his Company Venus Jewel (he was brother of Anilbhai and son of Dalpatbhai) was a leading name in the diamond business. Shri Hitruchi Vijayji left the material world and accepted the way of living presented by Lord Mahavir.
His knowledge and versatile personality made him one of the most prominent and respected munis in recent times, and he had many disciples including CAs and highly educated individuals with lofty characters.
