Well-known legal counsel Rohan P. Shah won the prestigious ‘Tax Lawyer of the Year’ award at the recently organized the 8th Annual Indian Legal Awards 2019. A veteran legal luminary with nearly three decades of experience was chosen by the jury out of eight tax lawyers who had been short listed as nominees.
 

The awards are highly recognised among the legal fraternity. Instituted by Legal Era Magazine eight years ago, they recognize finesse, innovation, and accomplishment in the legal field. They were given away to the winners in multiple categories at a glittering function at Taj Land’s End in Mumbai with Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra as Chief Guest.

Shah, son of Pradeep Hiralal Shah, is an alumnus of Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai. After over a decade of practice as counsel, he along with three other lawyers set up their own firm, Economic Laws Practice (ELP) in 2001. It quickly won acclaim for its work in different legal areas and was soon recognised as one of the ‘Top Ten’ law firms in the country.

After fifteen years at ELP, Shah, who is an expert in tax, corporate and real estate laws, left the firm in 2016 to pursue his passion and renew his career as a litigating counsel. Currently, he practices at Mumbai and Delhi.
