The newly renovated Parikh Hospital, popularly known as Mahajan Hospital at Palanpur was formally inaugurated by eminent cancer surgeon Dr. Ashok R. Mehta, on April 7, 2019 in the presence of other eminent personalities such as Shri Haribhai Chaudhary, Union minister, Shri Ashok Thakor, Palanpur Municipal President and eminent Jain scholar Dr. Sarvesh Vora. Shri Kavinbhai Parikh and Shri Arunbhai Mehta were also present alongwith other Trustees. 

Besides the contribution from the Parikh family, other prominent donors for the hospital project include Jewelex, Rosy Blue, A. S. Exports, Kanubhai Bapalal Shah Family (KBS Diamonds) and Shri Manubhai Surajmal Jhaveri (Crown TV).

The hospital, which traces its roots to the Zaveri Mangalji Vamalshi Dispensary set up by Shri Surajmal Lallubhai in 1911 through a bequest made by his maternal uncle Shri Zaveri Mangalji Vamalshi, is now a full-fledged 100 bed hospital. It has a modern dialysis centre, two well equipped operation theatres and a radiology department. It also has a hi-tech dentistry department and well developed medical departments as well as a medical shop providing genuine medicines at affordable rates.

A century ago, operations of the dispensary started near Jiva Mehta Kacheri, later moved to Dhalvaas and subsequently as activities increased, shifted to the present premises at Baradpura near Delhi Gate.
 

The expansion of the activities of the dispensary into a 30-bed hospital was made possible through a donation from the Parikh family and Mahendra Brothers. A surgical department and X Ray department were added.

After 2010, the hospital began to move beyond just providing basic diagnostic and surgical facilities. Various other departments were added due to increase in demand and advances in technology. In 2013, a full-fledged dialysis centre was inaugurated catering to a dire need. In 2018, the specially designed orthopedic operation theatre was built.

The hospital is registered with “Mukhya Mantri Amrutam Yojana” (MAA Yojana) and “Ayushman Bharat”.

Presently it has full time surgeons, physicians, dentists and visiting doctors in the field of radiology, cardiology, nephrology, dermatology, urology etc. Medical checkup camps followed by full medical or surgical treatment are carried out on regular basis. This greatly benefits the local populations of Palanpur and Banaskantha district as well as some parts of Rajasthan.

As part of the plans for future development, the Zaveri Mangalji Vamalshi Dispensary Trust plans to establish a Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre and an Eye department.
