Shama Gandhi, daughter of Megha and Sachin K. Gandhi successfully completed her Rang Manch Pravesh, with an enthralling performance in front of a packed auditorium of 450 spectators in New York on Nov 9, 2019. Shama is granddaughter of Meena and Kiran Gandhi.

Shama, who began learning Kathak at the age of 4, has been a disciple of Guru Rachna Saramg for the past 12 years. She is currently attending Norther Valley Old Tappan High School and is the first in her family to take up this traditional dance form. She plans to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology.

In addition to her achievements in the classical dance form, Shama has also been trained in Contortion and Rhythmic Gymnastics under the tutelage of Pan American Gold Medalist Olga Karminsky. She has also learnt Tap Dancing and Aerial Gymnastics under experienced guidance.

Besides dance and gymnastics, Shama has also performed as a lead Choir Singer with the Tri M Honors Music Society. A master at extemporizing poetry, she has a Dual accolade of representing her school at the Poetry Festival. She is also fluent in Spanish and an active member of her school’s junior varsity swim team.
