Shraddha Bhansali and Her Art Collection Featured in Hello! India

The March issue of the India edition of Hello!, a leading celebrity and lifestyle magazine, has featured the amazing art collection of Shraddha Bhansali, the young restauranteur cum art afficianado. Sharaddha is the daughter of Sejal and Saurabh Rajnikant Bhansali.

The issue focuses on ‘The New Art Eco System in India’ and one of the sections covers the private worlds of five energetic art collectors. Shraddha is one of those featured.

The magazine describes her as “a proprietor of two premium restaurants in South Mumbai”, and says that “she grew devoted to various streams of artistic expression with a father who has donated an entire museum to preserve Jain Art”.

In the opening para, entitled ‘Art by Osmosis’, Shraddha said, "I have always grown up with art around me and really big reason for this is my father's passion for it. Some of the best Sundays from my childhood were trips with my father to Jehangir Art Gallery followed by a visit to the Sizzling Brownie at Cream Centre where we would discuss what we had seen. My father also made it a point that we visited museums and galleries on all our travels. I even took up art as a subject for my final IBDP diploma... this with my father's early encouragement really gave me a great insight into my personal preferences of the arts."

Talking about the art collection, she adds, "My father and I usually collect and enjoy works by Modern Indian artists so I mainly follow galleries, auctions and museums which have such works. Some of the artists I regularly track are SH Raza, Manjit Bawa, Tayeb Mehta, Akbar Padamsee, FN Souza, Jehangir Sabavala and MF Husain.”

Shraddha then said that in recent times, “I really enjoy following works by Subodh Gupta and Paresh Maity. When I have a Sunday off, I will still try and make a trip to Jehangir Art Gallery; it’s a great way to meet interesting creators. I have discovered some great gems of art this way - one of my favourite being a mixed media artist by the name of Ajay Kumar Samir."
