Leading diamantaire Vipul P. Shah was unanimously elected as the Vice Chairman of The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), apex body for gems and jewellery export trade in India, for the period 2020-2022.
Elections to various posts on GJEPC’s Committee of Administration (CoA) had been held in late March, but the process was held up due to the lockdown and the results only announced recently.
Shah, who is CEO & Managing Director of Asian Star Co. Ltd, was previously the Chairman of GJEPC from 2012-15.
On assuming office, Shah said, “The current environment is extremely challenging for the Indian gems and jewellery exports. However, we are optimistic that the global consumption will pick-up in the second half of this year and global trade will witness upward trend.”
