Rutali Gandhi
Aniket Parikh
Two members of the community, Rutali Gandhi and Aniket Parikh were elected Secretary and Director respectively on the Board of the Indian Diamond and Colorstone Association (IDCA), New York for the year 2021.
Rutali is the daughter of Priti and Bharat Gandhi, and is married to Nisarg Mehta, son of Smita and Vastupal Mehta. She is currently the Vice President of Sales & Compliance for Sagar Star Corporation, a global wholesaler of loose diamonds. Rutali worked with a team of volunteers to co-launch the Gem & Jewellery industry's first ever hack-a-thon, GemHack, in October 2020. Prior to joining the Gem & Jewellery industry, Rutali worked in Equities at Goldman Sachs, covering the large and mid-cap oil services sector. She graduated from NYU Stern School of Business.
She was first elected to the Board of IDCA in 2020 and has been elected as Secretary for 2021.
Aniket is the son of Malti and Bharat Kantilal Parikh, the 3rd generation in a family of mine owners (Manganese Ore), a business started by his grandfather, Kantilal Dhayabhai Parikh. He currently heads Terra Cor Diamonds (Latin for “Diamonds from the Earth’s Heart”) in New York which he set up in 2014.
The company, which maintains its traditional wholesale diamond and jewelry division, has transitioned to becoming a solutions provider with the goal of creating a “Gem Technology for the New Generation”. It has just released a mobile app that allows a smartphone to be used as a gem counting machine, and aims to introduce three other revolutionary technologies for the business in the current year.
After graduating from Bombay International School (BIS) and Jai Hind College in Mumbai, Aniket entered the gem and jewellery industry, apprenticing at S. Narendra & Co. He later opened the company’s operations first in Thailand where he was Director of Sauraj Diamonds (Bkk) Ltd and subsequently as founder and President of its business in Japan.
In 2003, he moved to New York with Diamlink Inc., N.Y. and as he realized that there was a fundamental lack of technology and its adaptation in the industry, he later set up Terra Cor in 2014.
This is the first time he has been elected to the Board of a trade organisation.
