Punit D. Mehta, Partner & CEO of DNJ Creation LLP and D Navinchandra Jewels, has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), a leading international standard setting organisation across the jewellery and watch supply chain. The results of the elections were announced at RJC’s virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on May 5, 2021.
The Board comprises the main office bearers and representatives of the different sections of the supply chains of these industries. Punit Mehta, the only Indian on the Board, is one of the two representatives the jewellery manufacturer or wholesaler forum.
Mehta heads a 700-member team at M/s. D Navinchandra Jewels, Mumbai which was established in 1970 and has been one of the first jewellery companies in India to be RJC certified. It is also certified by Walmart, as well as GMP audited.
Punit joined the industry in 1997 after completing his education in India and USA, and has worked with the family business for 12 years each in New York and then India. He has experience across the entire diamond supply chain and has worked closely with the leading rough diamond suppliers as well as large retailers.
In addition, Punit has been actively involved in various social activities lending his contribution towards environment protection and improvement as well as serving the community around the industry through various efforts including being part of the Jewelers for Children fundraising activities.
