Dr Shraddha Shah, a leading practitioner in the field of clinical neuropsychology through Synapsium Brain Health Care and hospital affiliations, has been conferred with an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters by the ADY Patil University in Pune. The citation says she has been honoured for "her distinguished contribution to the society and numerous attainments".
The University also acknowledged her role as a "committed, effective and persistent practitioner in the field of neuropsychology.... (who) pioneered the field of brain injury management through neuropsychological rehabilitation in India ... (and) brings a new service that amalgamated neuroscience, holistic lifestyle interventions along with emotional-behavioural counselling.”
It notes, “In a country where counselling and psychotherapy aren't well understood, over 1,000 hours of neuro-psychotherapy care have already been provided.”
Shraddha is the daughter of Bina and Mukesh K. Shah. She has been a practitioner in the field of clinical neuropsychology for the past 11 years and founded Synapsium Brain Health Care and The Classroom, institutions offering care, counselling and lifestyle management for preventive care in this field.
Synapsium, has a team of specialized psychologists and offers various diagnostic tests and clinical interventions for people suffering from neurological and psychiatric disorders. It has worked with over 900 individuals and families with 25,000 hours of brain health care services.
The Classroom is a physical space and an online platform for workshops on necessary topics of lifestyle management focusing on the novel concept of Preventive Brain Health.
Shraddha is also a Consultant Psychologist at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre and Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, as well as a Visiting Faculty at S.N.D.T. University. Alongside, she is pursuing her PhD and her thesis, which she will be completing shortly, focuses on preventive healthcare, a field in which she is developing various initiatives.
Earlier, Shraddha completed her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Hamilton College, New York and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from S.N.D.T. University (Mumbai).
She has also won awards at Conferences for her research in the area of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, featured in several media interviews and shows, and was a consultant on the script of award-winning Marathi film “Smile Please” based on dementia directed by Vikram Phadnis. In addition, she has conducted pro bono workshops for Mumbai Police, Alzheimer’s Society of India, Rotary Club, Lions Club etc.
