The Banas Cup cricket tournament celebrated its Silver Jubilee year in 2022 and the tournament that brings together communities from across Banaskantha who have settled in Mumbai, was held on an even grander scale than usual. 
 

The main objective of this competition for the past 25 years is to build unity and harmony by bringing the entire Banaskantha community together on a single platform.

This year the tournament had two sponsors: Ankit Gems and Jewelex.
 

Dhandhar Samaj team emerged as winners defeating the team from Dhanera Samaj in a well-fought final held on March 7 at KJ Somaiya grounds in Sion, Mumbai. While Dhanera, batting first, scored 136 for 5 in their 20 overs, Dhandhar, propelled by a quick 34 in 20 balls by Kalp Shah, reached 137 for 5 with 4 balls to spare in the 20th over.
 

The Man of Match for the finals was Kalp Shah, while Jash Siroya (Dhanera) won the Best Batsman award and Saurabh Mody (Dhandhar) received the Best Bowler award.
 

The tournament was held from Jan 28 this year, with the Silver Jubilee celebrations being launched at an impressive inaugural programme. Among those present on the occasion were Arunbhai, Parvabhai and Ankitbhai of Ankit Gems, Anishbhai and Bobbybhai of Jewelex, Anoopbhai and Mehulbhai from Bharat Diamond Bourse and the Banas Cup Organising Committee comprising Hitesh Morakhiya, Manish Parikh, Kumar Mehta, Milan Mehta, Paras Rolia, Nikhil Shah and Saurabh Jhaveri (Advisor).
 

Eight teams participate in the tournament, with the majority of players being from the diamond industry. They were Deesa, Dhanera, DVO, Saith Samaj, Vav team (Pool A) and Dhandhar, Gadh, Palanpur, Sattar Gaam, Tharad (Pool B). In the semi-finals, Dhandhar defeated DVO, while Dhanera triumphed against Sattar Gaam.
