Sanjay K. Shah, a partner at the KBS Group and an active and well-respected committee member of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) passed away at a young age of 60 on April 29, 2022 after a brief illness in New York, USA. He is survived by his wife Sangeeta, their son Siddhant, daughters Shveni and Siddhi, his father Kanubhai B. Shah, also a well-known trade and community leader, and younger brother Sandeep.
 

Sanjay joined the firm of Kanubhai B Shah almost four decades ago and played an active part in its rapid growth and transformation into KBS Group. The group’s diamond and jewellery companies, KBS Diamonds and KBS Creations won export awards from the GJEPC during that time. KBS Group is still one of the largest exporters of diamond studded jewellery from India, while Sandeep Diamond Corporation is one of the most respected firms in New York.
 

About six years ago, Sanjay was elected to the Committee of Administration of GJEPC as a member of the Diamond Panel Committee. Subsequently, he was appointed as Convener of the Committee and represented the country on global bodies such as the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) and the World Diamond Council (WDC) and was a key member of GJEPC's team at the Inter-governmental trade body which spearheaded the Kimbereley Process Certification Scheme (KP).
