Mohanlal Raichand & Sons/ Mohit Diamonds Pvt Ltd, founded in 1916 by Mohanlal Raichand, a diamond trader from Palanpur, has completed 75 years as a De Beers Sightholder, making it the oldest client of the diamond mining giant among all current Sightholder companies.
The business, now more than 100-years old, is also one of the oldest diamond businesses in India. Today is steered by Anoop Mehta, CEO and Mohit Mehta, COO, the fourth and fifth generations of the family.
The company was first awarded a Sight in 1947 soon after the diamond industry began to revive following the end of the 2nd World War. The allotment of the Sight also coincided with the year of India’s independence. Ever since then Mohanlal Raichand & Sons / Mohit Diamonds had a continued unbroken association as client with De Beers.
Today, the Mumbai-headquartered Mohit Group, which includes Mohanlal Raichand & Sons, is well known as a leading manufacturer and distributor of rough and polished diamonds; especially ‘Mohit Stars - little things to believe in’, its branded polish diamond proposition.
The Group also has various family-run charitable trusts which support social activity in education and health care and assist those affected by natural calamities.
