Nilesh Pravin Kothari, Director of Jewelex India, has been recently appointed on the Board of ‘Diamonds Do Good’ - a global non-profit organization whose mission is to support programs that develop / empower people engaged in natural diamonds sector and share the positive impact that diamonds have on communities around the world.
He is one among the 10 well-known Diamantaires / Jewellers from various parts of the world who were inducted into the Board, led by its President Anna Martin, Senior VP - Institute and Industry Relations, GIA, for 2023.
Nilesh has been in the diamond business for more than 40 years and has a varied experience in the diamond & jewellery trade. He oversees the Diamond Business of Jewelex group, apart from other responsibilities and has spent time with group companies outside India in USA, Antwerp, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
Currently he is the Convenor of the International Exhibitions at GJEPC. Prior to this Nilesh has held positions in trade bodies such as BDB.
He is also the Trustee of Kothari family’s Jewelex Foundation to support philanthropy. The family, through the Foundation and their company, have donated to various social causes over the years. The focus areas have been healthcare, education & nutrition for the less privileged. The group has always been in the forefront to reach out to and donate in case of natural calamities to various NGOs and support the initiatives taken by the Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF), The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB).
Commenting on his selection, Nilesh said, “As their name suggests – Diamonds Do Good. It is a wonderful opportunity to contribute for the good of the communities, especially those associated with the Natural Diamond business in the developing areas of Africa and Asia and also enhance the image of the trade in the eyes of the global consumers.”
