Shreyas K. Doshi was conferred with the “Commander of the Order of Lion of Finland” in recognition of his 20 years of service as the honorary consul for Finland in Mumbai and for over 40 years of trade and investment with the Nordic nation.
 

The honour was announced earlier this year by the President of Finland and a medal and certificate of “Commander of the Order of Lion of Finland” was conferred on Shri Doshi by Ms Ritva Koukku-Ronde, ambassador of Finland in India, in the presence of Mr Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, during the opening of Finland’s new Consulate General in Mumbai on February 10, 2023. 
 

Also present on the occasion were Shri Rajagopal Devra, IAS, additional chief secretary in government of Maharashtra, diplomats and leading industrialists from India, apart from the visiting ministerial delegation from Finland.
 

Shri Doshi, a third generation diamantaire, joined the family business in 1969 and pioneered many path-breaking initiatives, including the introduction of laser in diamond cutting in the beginning of 1980s. He was amongst the first from India to supply diamond jewellery to retailers in Finland, and has since then, actively promoted and facilitated Indo-Finn trade. He was later appointed as the Honorary Consul for Finland in 2003 and served this position till his superannuation.
