Anoop V. Mehta was recently elected as Treasurer of the World Diamond Council (WDC) at a meeting of its Board of Directors held in London on May 15. He will be part of the new team of office bearers that will steer the work of the global industry body which was formed in 2000 to support international efforts to end the trade in conflict diamonds and to protect the integrity of natural diamonds and their distribution chain.

Anoopbhai had been elected to the Board in 2022, and represents the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). He along with representatives of a few other international organisations, reflect the views of the wholesale trading segment of the industry in this platform.

Two other Palanpuri diamantaires are also members of the WDC Board – Vipul Shah of GJEPC and Rajiv Mehta of Dimexon Diamonds, both from the manufacturing segment.

Anoopbhai is the President of BDB, Chairman and Managing Director of Mohit Diamonds Pvt. Ltd., and an Executive Committee member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).
