Apex Kidney Care (AKC), the social enterprise spearheaded by Dr Jatin Kothari has received a significant boost recently with Tata Capital Healthcare Fund II (TCHF II), the healthcare-focused private equity fund under Tata Capital Ltd., announcing that it has made an investment of $10 million in AKC.
 

AKC is India's second-largest dialysis chain and was founded by Dr Kothari and some of his fellow nephrologist-entrepreneurs. It is now India’s second largest dialysis chain and probably the largest dialysis service provider owned by nephrologists anywhere in the world. The enterprise, which operates in 180+ dialysis centres in 120 cities across nine states, plans to use the infusion of capital expand its dialysis services nationwide.
 

Currently, it is estimated that only about 11% of the nation's total annual demand for quality dialysis care is being met.
