A number of cultural, social and business organisations came together for a public felicitation of poet, writer and ghazalkar Pravinchandra Manilal Mehta, popularly known as Amar Palanpuri held in Surat in May. The programme was held to honour him for winning the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi’s prestigious ‘Vali’ award this year and a UN felicitation some years ago.
The participating organisations included South Gujarat Chambers of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), Rotary Club, Lions Club, Sanskriti, Rashtriya Kala Kendra and others.
Along with the felicitation there were brief presentations on Amar Palanpuri’s recent books followed by a Mushaira in which many singers and poets participated.
