A number of community members took part in the Tata Mumbai Marathon held on January 19, 2025, displaying stamina to complete full or half races, while some also raised funds for social causes. Vishal Bhansali, who completed the gruelling Full Marathon of 42 km for the 12th time joined the newly introduced Legends Club that recognises all those who have completed at least 10 Full Marathons in Mumbai.

According to the organisers, the Club is "an exclusive group of committed runners" who displayed "dedication and passion for running". They "have achieved a significant milestone worthy of recognition... (which) serves as an inspiration and role model for other runners", the TMM website said.

Vishal Bhansali, who has a gem and jewellery business, said that he could complete the race successfully with a timing of 4 hrs 7 minutes by “the Grace of God”. He added that being inducted into the Hall of Fame was actually a “humbling experience” as he considered himself a “regular guy”.

Speaking to Gujarati Mid-day, Bhansali said, “I still remember being amazed by seeing the African runners who passed in front of our house during the first ever Mumbai Marathon. I took up running after that and gradually progressed to the Full Marathon. When you run with a group, you forget the worries of your daily life. Our group, including youngsters and middle-aged and senior citizens, has grown from five when I started to about 150 today.”

Among other participants, Varun Shah completed the Full Marathon, and a number of others finished the Half Marathon too.

Sunit Kothari, who completed the Dream Run, was also honoured as a ‘Change Legend’ (individuals who raised over Rs 1 crore). He raised funds for Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, specifically the ‘Jivmaitridham’ an Animal Care initiative and the Edu-Farm, an education care initiative. His daughter Anyssa Kothari also took part in the Dream Run and raised Rs 25 lakh for the same causes.
