Nishka Mehta Wins Gold Medal for First Rank in MPhil in Clinical Psychology

Nishka Mehta recently received a Gold Medal from Amity University, Rajasthan for securing the first rank in the M.Phil. Clinical Psychology programme, and in recognition of her overall academic performance and clinical training during the course. She is now qualified as a Clinical Psychologist and registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Nishka is the daughter of Jigisha and Apurva Ashok Mehta.

Having completed her early studies in Clinical Psychology from Mumbai University, Nishka enrolled at the Amity Institute of Clinical Psychology for her M.Phil. programme which emphasizes intensive clinical training and practice, alongside psychodiagnostic assessment.

“As part of the course, we receive supervised training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of diverse mental health conditions across varied clinical populations,” she says.

Her M.Phil. dissertation focused on Cognitive Reserve and its impact on mental health variables, specifically perceived stress, negative affect, and general mental health, in a rural population of Rajasthan.

Nishka now plans to continue working as a Clinical Psychologist, providing both online and offline clinical services, with a primary focus on psychodiagnostic assessment and psychotherapy. “I am particularly interested in integrating evidence-based clinical practice with academic research and plan to remain actively involved in research alongside clinical work,” she explains.

Currently, she is also working towards expanding her research on Cognitive Reserve to include findings from diverse populations. “My aim is developing assessment tools and intervention-based applications in this area,” she adds.
