Rashesh Bhansali Conferred with D Litt by Dr Ajeenkya DY Patil University

Rashesh Bhansali, Executive Chairman, Goldiam International, was conferred with an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D Litt) - Honors Causa by the Dr Ajeenkya DY Patil Innovation University at its 10th Convocation Ceremony held recently. The honour was bestowed in recognition of Bhansali’s eminent position and achievements in the fields of business leadership and global entrepreneurship.

In the citation presented along with the degree, the University Chancellor, Shri Ajeenkya Patil highlighted Bhansali’s “visionary entrepreneurship as the architect of a transparent and global jewellery industry, his transformative impact on India's gem and jewellery sector, and his unwavering commitment to innovation, ethical governance and social service.”

The University also focused on innovative spirit that constantly explores new avenues, particularly his ventures into the lab grown diamond sector, his role as an influential voice in trade policy, and his dedication to philanthropy, while supporting pediatric cancer care at the Tata Memorial Centre and Saifee Hospital, animal welfare, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“As an active Rotarian, Paul Harris Fellow, and Premier Club member, he exemplifies the spirit of a Modern Renaissance man: driven by work, guided by ethics, and enriched by a life of curiosity and generosity,” the citation concluded.

In a short, thought provoking reply to the felicitation, Bhansali said, “I began life with a lot of belief – dreaming big and driven by the power of hard work.”

He urged the students to realise that success is not about avoiding failure, but about showing up every day with courage and consistency. “If you stay committed long enough, you and your work will definitely create an impact,” he said.

Sharing a few words of advice, he told the graduating batch, “Cultivate a growth mindset. Remember your abilities are not fixed, they will grow through hard work and being adaptable at all times. Ultimately, you will be remembered not only by what you achieve, but also by how many lives you uplift on the way.”
