Anoop Mehta and Mehul Shah Felicitated as ‘Legends of Industry’ by GJEPC


Well-known diamantaires Anoop Mehta and Mehul Shah were two of the nine prominent global leaders of the gem and jewellery trade recognised as ‘Legends of the Industry’ at a special felicitation event organised by GJEPC at the IIJS trade show on August 5, 2026.
 

Anoopbhai is a fourth-generation diamantaire and President of Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) as well as a member of the Executive Committee of World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) for over two decades. He is presently Vice President of the World Diamond Council (WDC), Convener, Diamond Panel of the Committee of Administration of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), and Chairman of the International Gemological Institute (IGI).

 
Mehulbhai, another industry veteran, was recently elected as the President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). Prior to that he was Treasurer-General of the organisation from 2016 to 2026, the first Indian to hold these positions. He joined the BDB Board of Directors in 2001 and been its Vice President since 2010. Currently he is also Chairman of Gemmological Institute of India (GII).
