Three students of Mamta Mandir, Palanpur win medals at National Games for the Deaf

Three girl students of the Shree Maa Shravanvani School for the Hearing Impaired, Mamta Mandir won medals at the 19th National Games for the Deaf held at Gandhinagar recently. The institution is run by the Vidyamandir Trust.

Thakor Virupa from Std 3 won a gold medal in the in Javelin throw, while Harsha Chaudhary from Std 7 won a silver medal in Discus Throw and Kamleshi Rajput also from Std 7, won silver medals in both High Jump and Long Jump. Rina Thakor also participated in the long jump but was not among the winners.

Over 2,500 athletes from 22 states participated in the four-day meet organized by Gujarat chapter of the National Sports Council of Deaf.

Mamta Mandir has 170 children enrolled in Std 1 to 10, and offers free lodging and boarding to these students.
