Chetan Kothari felicitated by film stars

Well known RTI activist and former diamantaire Chetan Rameshbhai Kothari was felicitated by film stars Anupam Kher, Neha Dhupia, Aditi Sharma and others at a function held in Mumbai on October 2 to coincide with the release of ‘Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami’.  Kothari was presented with a trophy and certificate that recognised him “for being extraordinary”.

The felicitation, organised by Nautanki Films and Shikhar Films, were held to honour public minded citizens who have contributed to the welfare of society. The selection was done based on research carried out by the two film makers.

Sixty two year old Kothari, who was born in Palanpur and spent many years in the diamond industry, recently retired from the business and is now doing voluntary work as a full time activist in the RTI (Right to Information) movement. He has been in the news for information that he has gathered to highlight issues like child abuse, health of employees in the atomic energy department, potholes on roads, cleanliness at railway stations and other public causes.

The initiative from the makers of the film ‘Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami’ is related to its core theme being a social one -- a battle waged for a dead father’s honour by his children.
