Dr Ashok Kothari Elected Vice President of Friends of the Trees

Dr Ashok Kothari, well-known medical practitioner and environmentalist has been elected Vice-President of National Society of the Friends of the Trees for 2014-16. He has earlier also held similar positions in the organisation as well as been an office bearer of other established environmental bodies like the Bombay Natural History Society.

He has also been recently appointed as District Chairman – Nature Trails and Environment of the Rotary Club and organised a forest trail for 250 Rotarians, foreign students and doctors in Borivali National Park. Currently, he is also a member of Governing Council of BNHS.

In his long career, Dr Kothari has travelled widely and addressed different audiences on issues of the environment and protection of trees. During this year, he also made presentations to a joint meeting of Rotary clubs of Capital City and Colombo Fort, where he spoke on beautiful Indian trees, and to the teachers of Jamnabai School, Vile Parle on a similar theme.
