Dr. Rupen Shah has been selected for a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Rosewell Park Cancer Institue, Buffalo, New York for 2015-2017. He is one of only two foreigners who are among those selected for 42 fellowships for Surgical Oncology in the USA this year. Dr. Rupen is the son of Varsha and Ashok Dalpatlal Shah, a family of diamond merchants who have settled in Bangalore for three generations. Earlier, he won the best research paper award at the McClure Lecture Resident Research Competitions in 2013 & 2014 and was the receipient of Robert Danto Cancer Research Award from American College of Surgeons in May 2013. After completing his MBBS from KIMS, Bangalore and MS (General Surgery) from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr. Rupen did a short stint as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the college before moving to the USA for further studies. He is currently the Administrative Chief Resident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
He is also a resident member of American College of Surgeons (ACS), resident member of American Society of Clinical Oncology ( ASCO) and associate member of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO).
