At the launch of Galaxy Gear
Indian tech-whiz Pranav Mistry has been appointed Global Vice President at Samsung Electronics Co in a recent reshuffle of senior managerial positions at the company. The new responsibility makes Mistry the youngest person to head a unit in the global electronics giant. He also joins the elite ranks of those Indians who have been assigned senior global level managerial responsibilities at technology majors.
Just prior to his appointment, Mistry was Vice President of Research & Development and the Head of Think Tank Team based in Silicon Valley, USA.
Mistry had joined Samsung in 2012, a couple of years after his invention Sixth Sense, a device for gesture-based computer interface, had been hailed as a path-breaking new technology in the world of computing. He was one of the key members of the team that launched the Samsung Galaxy Gear range of products, including a watch that displayed updates from a smartphone in sync with it, last year.
Mistry hails from Palanpur and is an alumnus of Vidyamandir Trust Palanpur.
