Community Members Play Important Roles at World Diamond Conference India

Members of the Palanpuri diamond community played important roles in the proceedings at the World Diamond Conference India held in Delhi on December 11-12, 2014, which was addressed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

The conference was organised by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the World Diamond Mark Foundation (WDMF) and supported by the Governemnt of India. The proceedings over two days were attended by an impressive array of dignitaries from different segments of the diamond pipeline and senior government functionaries from countries associated with the industry, including Ministers from South Africa, Russia and India.

The Welcome Address and Vote of Thanks at the Opening Welcome Session were delivered by Vipul P. Shah, Chairman GJEPC and Anoop V. Mehta, President BDB. In the same session, Rajiv P. Mehta made the main presentation on India covering various aspects of the economy, the manufacturing sector and the consumer market.

Later, at the official Inauguration, attended by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the Welcome was once again delivered by Vipul Shah.

On Day two of the conference the Summing Up presentation on behalf of the Indian industry at the concluding session was made by Saunak Parikh.

Sanjay A. Kothari, Convener PMBD Sub-Committee, GJEPC was one of the main organisers of the Conference.
