‘Against Night’, a film put together by Shayar Bhansali and other PG students of the American Film Institute at Los Angeles has been selected as a Finalist at the prestigious 2015 Student Academy Awards, the results of which are to be announced shortly. The film is edited by Shayar as part of his thesis project and has already won an award for Best Editing at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival earlier this year. It was also declared Winner of the National Jury Award at the USA Film Festival and Winner of the Best Student Film at the Cinegear Film Expo.

Shayar is the son of Late Varsha Bhansali and Samir Keshavlal Bhansali of Kolkata. He graduated in Psychology from Jai Hind College in Mumbai and entered the TV & film industry soon after, working with small and large companies in the field, including a three year stint with Yash Raj Films where he worked as an Assistant Editor.

He moved to the US In 2012 and joined the American Film Institute. In his second year there, he was the recipient of a Tom Yoda and Auerbach-Stuart Scholarship for 2013-14. He completed his Masters in Film making (Editing) from American Film Institute, LA-USA in 2014.
