Amrish A. Dalal, son of the late Shobhana and Ashwin Dalal and grandson of late Manjulaben & late Shashikant Dalal and late Manjulaben & late Bagmalbhai Laxmichand Parikh (Babusha), passed away suddenly on Friday August 21, 2015 at the young age of 41.

Amrish played a key role in the creation and launch of Palanpur Online, personally leading the team from his then company Indipreneurs in conceptualising, designing and providing technological interface for the website. In his soft-spoken style, often laced with subtle humour and a twinkle in his eyes, Amrish helped give shape to the concept of a web-based platform that would continue to connect the closely-knit albeit global Palanpuri community. It is a tribute to his understanding and knowledge that the platform that was created in 2008 remains relevant and largely unchanged even today.

Amrish graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and from the University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in the same. He subsequently returned to India and was one of the partners who launched Indipreneurs in January 2000 as a software and technology consulting company. In less than a decade, the company had created websites and numerous technology-based solutions for many of the leading names in the gems and jewellery industry.

In November 2009, about a year after the launch of Palanpur Online, Amrish moved to the family owned business, Dalal Engineering Pvt. Ltd. to support his father and uncle. He worked as VP, Projects, since then, playing a key role across all divisions of the company and strategising for its growth. Despite these added responsibilities, he continued to be in touch with the website and offer suggestions for its future development.
