Amar Palanpuri, aged 82 and currently residing in Surat, a  well-known exponent of Gujarati ghazals,  was felicitated by respected personality, Shri Morari Bapu,  at a special mushaira held at Tejpal Auditorium in Mumbai on August 29, 2015 to commemorate the birth centenary of the renowned poet Amrut Ghayal. Shri Morari Bapu honoured the poet by presenting him with a shawl. The function in Mumbai was organised by Shobhit Desai Foundation and Navbharat Sahitya Mandir.

 A collection of poems by Amrut Ghayal was released on the occasion and two of the poets who participated in the mushaira, Amar Palanpuri and Gaurang Thakkar were presented with special mementoes to honour their contributions in the field of Gujarati poetry. They presented a few select ghazals & poems and received requests for "Once More" from Shri Morari Bapu also, indicating the quality & emotion contained in their creations. Their ghazals were gripping and enthralled the audience throughout the programme. 

Earlier in the month, on August 8, Amar Palanpuri was honoured by the Surat Chamber of Commerce and Kavya Sampada of Surat by hosting a ‘Amar Palanpurino One Man Show’. On the occasion, besides the ghazals he himself has composed, Amar Palanpuri also presented ghazals written by Saif Palanpuri and Shunya Palanpuri and enlivened the audience with a selction of the best of various poets & ghazalkars of yesteryears.
