Reacting quickly to the floods caused by unprecedented rains in and around Chennai in early December, Shree Banaskantha Palanpur Jain Association (SBPJA) organised a major flood relief drive to reach food and emergency essential supplies to people in the affected villages and urban localities.

The association took up this activity in 12 different places such as Tambaram, Ottery, Ambattur, Moolkadai, etc. They also distributed food to nearly 3,000 people at Redhills and nearby areas.

In November, the association had carried out similar relief work when floods affected villages in the periphery of Chennai. The volunteers cooked food and distributed food packets to people who had moved to emergency camps in villages of Ennore area: Thilagar Nagar, Valluvar Nagar and Burma Nagar.
