PSK Women’s Forum Hosts ‘Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan...’

Palanpur Samaj Kendra’s Women’s Forum got a unique tour of the city on March 18, at a vibrant event titled Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan. At the Annual Event, more than 100 participants showcased their knowledge, frustration and enduring love for the city that never sleeps. Sangeen Mehta and Nikita Mehta organized the event, which featured five innovative rounds.

Each participant was bucketed into a team named after a famous Mumbaikar — Sachin Tendulkar, Mukesh Ambani, Lata Mangeshkar and Bal Thackeray. Their first challenge was to form a political party and an election manifesto, with realistic solutions to the city’s deep-rooted problems. The contestants were eloquent and practical, and had solid answers for Mumbai’s water crisis, overpopulation, pollution and traffic woes. Shital Shah was the judge.

After some pen-and-paper games and on-the-spot quizzes, the teams were treated to audio-visual rounds. When the subject is Bombay, Bollywood cannot be left behind — the teams had to pinpoint important landmarks shown in a popular Bollywood movie, and identify songs with Mumbai as the theme, from muted clips. They also had to answer questions on contemporary street sculptures found across the city.

The final event packed a great punch — labeled Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Sangeen Mehta had written a special Housie round, telling the story of a day in the life of a Mumbaikar, with the numbers integrated into the tale.

The ultimate champions were team Mukesh Ambani, and the event ended with a delicious dose of Mumbai’s street food — chatpata bhel, buttery pav bhaji and creamy kulfi.
