The Rotary Club Palanpur City presented the Banas Ratna Award for 2016 to leading cancer surgeon Dr Ashokbhai R. Mehta at a function held at Lions Club Hall in Palanpur on July 3, 2016. The function was attended by 200-250 leading citizens of Palanpur city.

Dr Mehta, who was present along with his wife Shirinben, received the award at the hands of Dr. Harshad Udeshi, Past District Governor, Rotary District 3050 and Shrenikbhai Chokshi, Trustee of Mavjat Multispeciality Hospital at Palanpur.

A well-known cancer surgeon with specialisation in ENT Oncology, Dr Mehta is a Palanpuri who has worked in Mumbai for many years. During his career, he has treated thousands of cancer patients.
