Celebrating the spirit of excellence, the 'Rising Stars' function was held a the Rangaswar Hall of the Y B Pratishtan on Sunday February 17, 2019. The stellar accomplishments of the community's students were applauded by an enthusiastic audience.
It started off with a cultural programme including a melodious song by little Ariana Shah, a medley of patriotic songs rendered on a guitar by Harshi Shah and an enthralling drum performance by Uchit Mody.
The felicitation programme began with a very special announcement for a man who had challenged every notion of attaining knowledge at an old age, Shri Vikrambhai Mehta who got his second PhD at the age of 80. In his words, "There is no age for acquiring knowledge. It is a continuous process that helps a person grow."
Amongst the other achievers were Karate, Chess and Badminton champions, two doctors, three lawyers, four students scoring more than 95% in ICSE and a host of other high scorers.
Some of the students took the opportunity to voice their views on varied relevant topics. Kush Jhaveri recited a poem 'Untitled' which he had penned himself. He also took the opportunity to kindle the nationalist spirit by a poem 'Kashmir' by a very famous poet. Armaan Bhansali spoke on 'Failure' and how to deal with it. Meksha Mehta's topic 'True Wisdom comes from experience' dealt with one's own journey as well as the role of parents.
The comperes Zeel Baxi, Shikha Kothari and Rashi Parikh guided the ceremony with well-timed and detailed presentations of each Rising Star’s achievements.
A very special highlight of the ceremony was the chief guest -- Dr Satyavati Mehta. She was the one who has initiated 'Rising Stars', as one amongst the many community projects she has spearheaded. 'Satuben' as she is fondly known in the community, has spent a large part of her life creating opportunities for numerous people. She is a passionate academic, a selfless philanthropist, a prolific artist, a path-breaking feminist and above all a distinguished humanitarian -- truly an inspiration to all.
It was a proud moment for the community to cheer the outstanding achievers and to encourage them to keep excelling in their fields.
